History and the future....

It all started with a group of friends with a common interest in shooting, one of which was Tom Barton who together with his wife Jane are loving parents and carers to Beatrice, a very ill little girl.

Tom, Jane and Beatrice were, and still are, regulars at Rainbows 8 bed Children’s Hospice in Loughborough.It was at Tom's request, over a drink in the local pub, that he got together with his shooting friends and decided to raise funds to purchase a special needs coach, to replace the only 'wreck' Rainbows had.

What is Clay Shooting?

Clay pigeon shooting is the sport of shooting at special flying targets, known as clay pigeons or clay targets, with a shotgun.

A shotgun, as defined by UK law, is a smooth barrelled gun; not being an air gun, with a barrel length in excess of 60.96 cm (24 inches) and a barrel with a bore not exceeding 5.08cm (2 inches).  The gun has no magazine, or a non detachable magazine incapable of holding more than two cartridges.

The Charley Mill Charity Shoot has now been running for over five years.  In this time the group has raised over £130,000 for their chosen charities

 

Our 5 year total

Focusing on the Childrens Charities, Rainbows and Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), this organisation is ran by a dedicated, and focused committee group who give up their time freely.

The aim of the Charity Shoot is to create and deliver one of the best charity focused clay pigeon shooting weekends, but also to put on superb 5 star society events, which are the highlight to many peoples social calendars.
